Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using YY Canvas Assistant, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use YY.

2. Educational purpose

YY is a study-support tool that connects to Canvas and provides AI-assisted features. It can help you understand tasks, explore concepts, locate course material, check references, and draft ideas. It is not a replacement for your own learning, judgement, thinking, and writing.

Some Canvas features can save answers or complete actions within a quiz session that you start. You remain responsible for reviewing the session, the answers, and any action taken using your Canvas account. YY does not independently decide what work you should submit.

3. Your study responsibilities

When using YY, you agree to:

• Check your course outline or Canvas site before using AI for an assessment, and follow the rules that apply to that specific task.
• Review and take responsibility for work produced or submitted using your account.
• Acknowledge or cite AI-assisted material where your institution requires it.
• Keep evidence of your research and writing process where your institution or course requires it.
• Comply with your institution's academic-integrity policy and applicable course rules.

4. Academic integrity

Using AI output as submitted work where it is not permitted, or failing to acknowledge AI assistance where required, may breach academic-integrity rules, including rules concerning plagiarism or unauthorised assistance. Your institution determines those rules and any consequences.

Institutions may permit AI as a general learning aid while restricting it for particular assessments or quizzes. You are responsible for confirming what is allowed in each unit and assessment.

5. Your account and credentials

You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in and Canvas credentials secure, and use only accounts and Canvas resources you are authorised to access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.

Notify YY through the channel on the Contact page if you believe your YY account has been accessed without permission. Do not send a Canvas token or password in a support message.

6. Canvas access and data

When you connect Canvas, YY requests course information needed for the feature you choose. Depending on that feature, this can include course and module listings, assignment details, pages, files, quiz structure and questions, and information used during an active quiz session.

When you enter a Canvas access token, YY keeps it in the current page's browser memory rather than browser local storage. When you use a feature that requires Canvas access, the token is sent to a YY server endpoint and used to make the requested Canvas API call on your behalf. The current application does not intentionally write your Canvas access token to YY's persistent application stores.

Your Canvas site URL, and in some cases a separate temporary quiz validation token, may be stored locally in your browser as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Canvas acceptable use

Your use of Canvas through YY must comply with the terms and policies that apply to your Canvas account. Do not use YY for abusive automation, to access another person's data, to exceed the access granted by your institution, or to scrape information unrelated to your own authorised study use.

8. AI output

AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, or similar to material generated for other users or available elsewhere. YY does not guarantee originality, correctness, academic acceptance, or the result of plagiarism or AI-detection tools. Do not use YY to evade academic-integrity controls. Review, edit, and appropriately attribute material before relying on it.

9. Paid products and payment

YY's confirmed public prices and product descriptions appear on the Pricing page. Prices are displayed in Australian dollars (AUD). Paid checkout is not currently open from that page.

When purchasing is enabled, payment-card details will be entered with Stripe rather than collected directly by YY. A paid membership or credit pack is provided only after YY receives a confirmed payment event through its billing system.

10. Monthly membership and automatic renewal

Monthly is a recurring membership charged once per monthly billing period. When you purchase it, you authorise recurring charges until the subscription is cancelled. The confirmed price is A$39.99 per month.

The cancellation method, effective timing, and treatment of access and credits will be stated in the Cancellation Policybefore paid checkout opens. Do not purchase until those terms have been published and you agree to them.

11. Lifetime membership

Lifetime is a one-time A$599 purchase for permanent membership. Permanent membership does not mean unlimited usage. The included-credit amount and the allocation, reset, and rollover rules have not yet been finalised and must be published before paid checkout opens.

Lifetime remains subject to these terms, including the rules concerning misuse, account security, and suspension or termination for a serious breach.

12. Credits

Credits are usage units for eligible YY features. They are not money, a bank balance, a gift card, or a payment method. Credits can be used only within YY, cannot be transferred to another person, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be used to pay a third party.

Each A$3.99 credit pack includes 500 credits. The credit allocations for Free, Monthly, and Lifetime will be published on the Pricing page before Monthly or Lifetime paid checkout opens. Monthly credits remain available through their paid billing period and expire when that period ends. Credit pack top-up credits do not expire and are not removed solely because Monthly is cancelled. Other applicable allocation, reset, rollover, and excess-usage rules will be displayed on the Pricing page before payment is accepted.

13. Refunds and cancellations

Refund eligibility for Monthly and credit packs, duplicate or incorrect charges, and rights required by law are described in the Refund Policy. The Lifetime refund policy is still under review, and YY is not currently accepting payment through its public Pricing page.

Lifetime membership and credit packs are one-time purchases, not recurring subscriptions. Subscription cancellation applies to Monthly membership as described in the Cancellation Policy.

14. Referral credits

YY may offer a referral programme in the app. A referral is eligible only where a genuinely new account registers through a valid referral link, verifies its primary email, and remains in good standing. An existing, former, or previously paying account is not a new account for this purpose. A referral cannot be added or changed after registration.

An existing account cannot become eligible by opening a referral link after it was created or by signing in through that link, even if it has never bought Monthly. Referral rewards apply only on eligible registration and the first qualifying payment; Monthly renewals and later purchases do not earn another payment reward.

Referral credits have no cash value, are not transferable, and are subject to the Credits rules above. The reward amounts and qualifying purchases shown in the app at the time of the referral apply. A Lifetime-purchase reward, if offered, will be stated before its checkout is available.

Each referrer can receive automatic rewards for at most 50 successful referrals in an Australia/Sydney calendar day and 50 in an Australia/Sydney calendar month. YY may withhold, review, or reverse unused referral credits where reasonably necessary to address fraud, refunds, payment disputes, account links, misuse, or a breach of these terms. A reversal does not create a negative credit balance automatically.

15. Acceptable use

You must not use YY to:

• Break the law, infringe another person's rights, or facilitate harm.
• Access an account, course, system, or information without authorisation.
• Interfere with, overload, probe, or bypass YY's security or usage controls.
• Share credentials or attempt to transfer memberships or credits.
• Misrepresent AI output as your own work where that is prohibited.

16. Third-party services

YY relies on third-party services including Canvas, Clerk, DeepSeek, Stripe, Upstash, Supabase, and Vercel. Their services may have separate terms, privacy notices, availability, and account requirements. YY does not control your institution's Canvas rules or the independent operation of those services.

17. Suspension and termination

You may stop using YY at any time. YY may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to investigate account security, fraud, unlawful activity, misuse, or a serious breach of these terms. The handling of a paid entitlement following suspension or termination remains subject to the final refund and cancellation policies and any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

18. Availability and changes

YY may change, maintain, or discontinue features as the service develops. The app and AI output are provided on an as-available basis. YY does not promise uninterrupted access or that every Canvas institution, course item, file, or third-party service will always be compatible.

19. Responsibility and liability

You are responsible for decisions made using YY and for checking information before relying on it. To the extent permitted by law, YY is not responsible for academic penalties or other consequences caused by prohibited, unauthorised, or improper use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

20. Changes to these terms

YY may update these terms when the service or applicable requirements change. The page will show the date of the latest revision. Material paid-product terms must be available before YY accepts payment for those products.
